Frequently asked questions
How do we start a match?
Both players open Air Tennis. One chooses Create a Match and selects a format; the other chooses Join a Match and selects the nearby game. Allow local-network access when iOS asks. Once connected, both players mark themselves ready.
Why can’t we see each other’s match?
Keep both iPhones nearby, unlocked and running Air Tennis. Confirm that Local Network access is enabled in iOS Settings for Air Tennis, and that Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth are on. Leave the create/join screens and try again. Managed, guest or isolated Wi‑Fi networks can restrict local discovery.
I can’t hear the ball.
Raise media volume, turn off Silent Mode if it affects your setup, disconnect unintended audio devices and check that Air Tennis is allowed to play audio. Headphones can make the timed cues clearer, but stay aware of your surroundings.
My swings are not detected.
Enable Motion & Fitness access for Air Tennis in iOS Settings. Hold the phone firmly, make a clear racket-like movement and wait briefly between swings. Small or extremely abrupt movements may not register reliably.
Which permissions does Air Tennis need?
Motion access detects swings. Local Network access finds and connects the other player. Photo access is optional and is only used when you select a profile picture. Air Tennis does not need microphone access.
Which devices are compatible?
The current release is made for iPhone and requires device-motion sensors. Both players need Air Tennis on their own iPhone. The reviewed project includes an optional Apple Watch companion, but iPhone motion detection works without a watch. Android is not yet publicly available.
Can I practice alone?
Yes. Wall Training lets you practice timing, keep a rally going and save a local high score.
How do I restore Table Tennis?
Open the Table Tennis purchase screen and choose Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple Account that made the original purchase.
Play safely
Use a suitable secure wrist strap, keep a firm grip and clear enough space around both players. Stay away from people, pets, furniture, windows and other obstacles. Stop if the phone or strap feels insecure.
